The engraved screws of the Cartier Love wedding ring
In 1969, in New York, Aldo Cipullo designed an oval bracelet for Cartier which displayed its screws rather than concealing them, and which fastened with a small screwdriver. This industrially inspired motif gave rise to the entire Love collection. This Cartier Love wedding ring is the slimmest version, the small model with reference number B4085000, crafted in 18-carat yellow gold. A pre-owned signed piece, it echoes the bracelet’s design without any gemstones, stripping it back to its essence: a flat band punctuated by engraved screws.
Architecture and jewellery craftsmanship
The band forms a flat strip 3.6 mm wide, with clean-cut edges. The screw motifs are engraved in relief at regular intervals on the outside of the band, each encircled by a fine line and crossed by a diagonal slit. The exterior has a mirror polish that reflects light in a continuous line from one edge to the other. The inside has a satin finish, a more understated finish which showcases the House’s engravings. Its narrow width means it can be worn on its own, with the understated elegance of a classic wedding ring, or slipped between other rings without crushing them.

Contents and condition
The inside of the ring bears the Cartier signature, size 52 and the 18-carat gold hallmark ‘Au 750’, accompanied by a cartouche hallmark. Polished and inspected by our master jeweller, the wedding ring has been restored to a uniform mirror finish on the entire exterior and a clean satin finish on the inside, with no visible signs of wear. It has not been resized. It is supplied in a The Swiss Collector box.
