The Cartier monogram on a bangle
This Cartier Double C bangle is part of a collection created by the House in the 1980s, which features the double C from its monogram adorning both ends. This pre-owned piece is crafted from 18-carat yellow, white and rose gold – a combination of the three golds that Cartier has been using since the Trinity ring of 1924. Each ‘C’, in white gold, is set with 17 diamonds – a total of 34 stones with an estimated combined weight of approximately 0.85 carats. In its 16 mm wide version, this Cartier bangle forms a solid band around the wrist, where the three colours appear as distinct, even stripes.
Architecture and jewellery craftsmanship
The outer surface comprises six parallel blades – two per colour of gold – mirror-polished and separated by fine grooves that catch the light with every movement of the arm. The two ‘C’ motifs crown these blades at each end, their arrow-shaped tips raised in relief on the metal. The 34 round 8/8-cut diamonds are set grain by grain into the body of each letter, following its curve. Less faceted than the modern brilliant cut, this cut was the standard for small stones of that era, and produces a clear brilliance without excessive sparkle. The inside of the bangle features the three golds in satin-finished bands, a soft finish against the skin.
Why choose this pre-owned bracelet
A Cartier Double C bracelet of this width, crafted from solid gold with two hand-set motifs, represents a significant amount of workshop craftsmanship today, which the pre-owned market makes more accessible. This three-tone Cartier bracelet also offers a more graphic design than the Trinity ring, whose colours it echoes. For those seeking a vintage Cartier bracelet, it can be worn on its own or alongside a watch.
