The history of this Breitling Navitimer dates back to 1952 with the creation of an instrument designed for the Association of Aircraft Owners and Pilots. Designed as a wrist-worn flight computer, it enabled aviators to perform navigation calculations using its circular slide rule. The bidirectional bezel with a pearl finish surrounds a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. The green sunburst dial is set off by a white flange housing the logarithmic scale. The sword-shaped hands and applied hour markers incorporate luminescent material. The central seconds hand is distinguished by its red tip and its counterweight in the shape of a capital ‘B’. The watch is powered by the self-winding Calibre 17. This COSC-certified chronometer movement features 26 jewels and operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, offering a power reserve of 38 hours. The stainless steel bracelet, with seven rows of oblique links, fastens with a folding clasp. The watch is water-resistant to 30 metres.
