The geometric precision of these half-hoop earrings
The Modernist movement redefined the codes of jewellery design during the 20th century by replacing curves with clean lines and dense volumes. This pair of second-hand half-hoop earrings embodies this aesthetic approach. Crafted from 18-carat white gold, they possess a distinct architectural presence. At the centre of each earring, a single brilliant-cut diamond is set directly into the metal. The two main stones have an estimated combined weight of 0.14 carats. Their colourless clarity complements the cool tone of the metal surface.
Architecture and jewellery craftsmanship
The setting is structured around three distinct longitudinal bands, creating a tiered relief. The raised central section houses the main diamond in a half-bezel setting, a technique that protects the gem’s culet whilst exposing its table to allow light to reflect off it. Set slightly back, the two side bands feature 40 brilliant-cut diamonds weighing approximately 0.20 carats in total. These accent stones are held in place by a continuous grain setting. This construction requires a high degree of craftsmanship to ensure the stones are aligned and the structure is cohesive. The total carat weight of the gemstones is 0.34 carats.
Why choose these second-hand half-hoop earrings
The contemporary jewellery market tends to streamline settings to optimise production costs. Choosing this pre-owned pair allows you to acquire a generous design and a substantial amount of gold. This design ensures a secure fit on the earlobe and excellent structural strength. It is a discerning purchase that offers access to intricate setting and a pavé of 42 diamonds, at a price that reflects the true value of the original goldsmith’s craftsmanship.
