The story behind this TAG Heuer Aquaracer
The history of the Aquaracer collection is rooted in the technical heritage of the Swiss watch manufacturer. A direct descendant of the 2000 series launched in the 1980s, this range meets the specifications for marine instruments. The Aquaracer Professional 200 model marks an evolution within this lineage. Unlike the 300-metre water-resistant version, which historically featured a diver’s helmet engraved on its case back, this version features a compass rose engraving set against a honeycomb pattern. This aesthetic choice illustrates a change of direction. The watch is no longer exclusively reserved for diving; it has become a timepiece for land-based exploration, designed to accompany its wearer in everyday life. The reference WBP2110.BA0627 embodies this approach by combining legibility with robust construction.
Case, movement and strap of this Aquaracer
This timepiece is housed in a 40 mm stainless steel case. Its design combines a uniform brushed finish with subtle mirror-polished bevels along the sides. The unidirectional rotating bezel is distinguished by its dodecagonal outline. Its 12 metal facets feature large, recessed Arabic numerals lacquered in black. Beneath the flat sapphire crystal, featuring an anti-reflective coating, lies a dial with a gradient pattern. The colour transitions from a light grey at the centre to a darker shade towards the edge, across a textured surface of horizontal striations. The applied trapezoidal hour markers and broad sword-shaped hands are filled with white luminescent material. A rectangular date window is positioned at 6 o’clock. The watch is powered by the TAG Heuer Calibre 5 automatic movement, operating at a frequency of 4 Hz to provide a power reserve of 38 hours. The steel bracelet, featuring three brushed links, fastens with a secure folding clasp fitted with a comfort extension. The construction ensures water resistance to 200 metres, guaranteed by a screw-down crown and its protective shoulders.
Why choose this TAG Heuer watch
Purchasing this timepiece on the second-hand market is a sensible choice for collectors seeking a versatile contemporary watch. Its 40 mm diameter offers balanced proportions that fit comfortably under a cuff. The absence of a ceramic bezel insert, in favour of raw steel, reinforces its technical appeal whilst maintaining a visual neutrality. This timepiece is aimed at enthusiasts seeking a understated instrument, a far cry from the imposing bulk of extreme divers’ watches.
