The iconic Nudo cut and its minimalist design
Launched in 2001, Pomellato’s Nudo collection redefined the traditional solitaire design by removing the prongs to leave the gem fully exposed. This second-hand piece, in its ‘Grande’ version, highlights this structural approach. It features a central topaz with a blue-grey hue. The stone is cut in a cushion shape with the asymmetrical facets characteristic of the House. The whole is set in a frame crafted from 18-carat rose gold.
Architecture and jewellery craftsmanship
The construction of this ring centres on a solid bezel concealed beneath the base of the central stone, creating the illusion of a floating gem. The ring’s rounded shoulders are enhanced by a pavé setting of brilliant-cut diamonds totalling an estimated weight of 0.70 carats. The regular setting of these accent stones emphasises the grandeur of the topaz whilst creating a visual contrast with the mirror-polished finish of the rose gold.
