The rotating band of the hexagonal Possession
Launched in 1990, the Possession collection was born from an idea by Yves G. Piaget: to slide one ring inside another. This Piaget Possession ring in 18-carat white gold (750 fineness) reinterprets this concept in a form no longer featured in the current catalogue: a hexagonal profile with six sides. This pre-owned piece bears the signature of Piaget, known as the Maison de l’Or, and features no gemstones. Everything hinges on the lines and the metal. With every movement of the hand, the six sides reflect the light through sharp facets.
Architecture and jewellery craftsmanship
The ring shank, 6 mm wide, consists of two mirror-polished outer bands with faceted sides, which frame a central rotating ring. This ring, marked by a raised rib edged by two grooves, rotates freely with a flick of the thumb – the very essence of the collection. The angular breaks are visible even on the moving part, which follows the geometric design of the setting. The brushed interior features the Maison’s engravings. Solid and substantial, the white gold setting gives the ring a bold presence on the finger, with no gemstone settings to interrupt its design. Worn on its own, it creates a clean, graphic line on the hand.
Why choose this second-hand ring
The stone-free ‘La Possession’ ring offered today by Piaget features a round profile and a slimmer width. This hexagonal version is no longer listed in the catalogue and can only be found second-hand. It features a generous 18-carat gold setting, the hallmark of a renowned watchmaking and jewellery House, and the rotating mechanism that defines the collection’s identity. Choosing this pre-owned ring is like wearing an earlier generation of the Possession, with a more architectural design than the current round rings.
