Geneva-based MB&F and the L'Epée 1839 manufacture have joined forces to design the MB&F Starfleet Explorer Green. This timepiece draws its inspiration directly from the Deep Space Nine space station featured in the Star Trek franchise. Maximilian Büsser conceived this piece to transport traditional table clock design into a science-fiction universe. The design features a three-dimensional time display in which three polymer spaceships orbit the central dome every five minutes. This model meets the expectations of collectors seeking a unique kinetic mechanism and an object of horological contemplation.
Case, movement and strap of this Starfleet Explorer
The structure measures 11 centimetres in height and 16.5 centimetres in diameter, and rests on three stainless steel arches with brushed and polished finishes. The dial takes the form of a rotating metal dome with a bluish sheen. The hours are indicated by a green aluminium pointer, whilst the minutes are displayed beneath a fixed arch of the same colour. The visible movement is a hand-wound L’Epée 1839 manufacture calibre offering an 8-day power reserve. This palladium-treated brass mechanism features a single barrel and oscillates at a frequency of 2.5 Hz. The whole assembly is supported by a stabilising ring in place of a strap to ensure it sits freely and securely.
