The story behind this Lucky Harvey Sound of Nature
Lucky Harvey is an independent Chinese watchmaker that claims to be the first in its country to have mastered the automatic chime on the wrist. The Sound of Nature series combines an hourly chime with a large date display, a combination which the brand claims is unprecedented in a fully automatic movement. Its chime was selected after testing more than 200 natural sounds, using the clear sound of a jade chime as a reference. This version features a Muonionalusta meteorite dial and a rose gold-coloured titanium case, in a limited edition of 50 numbered pieces.
Case, calibre and strap of this Sound of Nature
The 40 mm round case, 10.95 mm thick, is machined from rose gold-coloured Grade 5 titanium. Its faceted and brushed case middle, with polished chamfers, surrounds a polished bezel. The fluted crown, bearing the brand’s monogram, is flanked by two faceted pushers, one of which silences the chime. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, whilst a screw-down sapphire caseback reveals the movement. The watch is water-resistant to 5 ATM. The dial is carved from Muonionalusta meteorite, discovered in northern Sweden. Its Widmanstätten patterns, formed by the very slow cooling of iron and nickel, make each dial unique. The facetted applied hour markers and luminescent hands echo the rose gold hue. The large double-window date display is positioned at 12 o’clock, whilst a small window featuring a bell pictogram, at around 4 o’clock, indicates that the chime is activated. On the dial, a polished hammer secured by two screws strikes the circular gong – which runs along the anthracite-coloured flange – every hour. The self-winding LH003 calibre beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. The case back reveals the gold, guilloché-finished and signed oscillating weight, as well as blued screws. The integrated titanium bracelet, entirely brushed, features hexagonal-patterned links leading to a folding clasp with visible screws. The watch comes with two additional straps, one in black grained leather and the other in black rubber, each with a signed rose gold-coloured pin buckle.
Why this Lucky Harvey watch
The hour-striking complication remains a rarity, usually reserved for watches in a completely different category. This ‘Sound of Nature’ model features it on an automatic movement, with a large date display for everyday use and a ‘silence’ function for night-time. The rose gold-coloured meteorite version is sold out at the Maison, and its production is limited to 50 pieces. Number 34 of 50 is presented here with all its accessories, allowing you to switch between titanium, leather and rubber straps.
