The history of this Longines HydroConquest
Longines has a long and well-documented history in the design of precision instruments. Launched in 2007, the HydroConquest collection adapts the hallmarks of the diving watch for the brand with the winged hourglass. This model, reference L3.780.3.78.9, illustrates the technical evolution of the range. The incorporation of ceramic into the bezel marks a milestone in the collection’s history, offering enhanced scratch resistance. This two-tone version demonstrates the manufacture’s ability to combine robustness with contemporary aesthetics.
Case, movement and strap of this HydroConquest
This timepiece features a round stainless steel case measuring 39 mm in diameter. The rose gold PVD-coated elements, such as the screw-down crown and the teeth on the unidirectional rotating bezel, contrast with the grey ceramic insert. The grey sunburst dial highlights the applied Arabic numerals at 6, 9 and 12 o’clock. White luminescent material adorns the hour markers and hands to ensure readability in the dark. A date window is positioned at 3 o’clock. Beneath the engraved solid case back lies the L888 calibre. This automatic movement offers a 72-hour power reserve and beats at a frequency of 25,200 vibrations per hour. The watch is water-resistant to 300 metres. A textured grey rubber strap extends the lines of the case and fastens with a steel folding clasp with push-buttons.
Why this Longines watch
The appeal of this design lies in its visual balance. The 39 mm diameter meets a structural demand for balanced proportions on the wrist. The combination of grey and rose gold offers an alternative to traditional models in bare steel. This piece allows you to acquire a modern Swiss mechanical watch with strong resale value on the second-hand market.
