The history of this Longines Evidenza
The Evidenza collection has its roots in the 1920s. This decade marked a significant stylistic shift. Longines began exploring the tonneau shape as early as 1911, moving away from traditional rounded designs. The model bearing the reference L2.142.4 pays homage to this heritage by offering a contemporary interpretation of the Art Deco spirit. This watch was designed to meet the expectations of women seeking a bold aesthetic combined with mechanical authenticity. It is said that this case design, conceived to perfectly follow the curve of the wrist, quickly became a hallmark of urban chic during the Roaring Twenties.
Case, movement and strap of this Evidenza
The stainless steel tonneau-shaped case measures 26 mm in diameter and is 8 mm thick. The case features a fully polished finish that smoothly accentuates its lateral curves. Beneath the sapphire crystal, the silver-coloured dial stands out for its flinqué finish, which creates a subtle radiating pattern. The hours are marked by Arabic numerals painted in blue. The time is indicated by leaf-shaped hands in blued steel. A discreet date window at 6 o’clock displays the date. The fluted crown is set with a blue cabochon insert. The self-winding mechanical movement, powered by the L592 calibre, offers a power reserve of 45 hours and beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The watch is water-resistant to 30 metres. The strap is crafted from deep blue alligator leather and fastens with a polished steel pin buckle.
Why choose this Longines watch
This timepiece is an excellent choice for incorporating a distinctive mechanical watch into everyday life. The combination of the tonneau-shaped case and the textured dial gives the watch a distinctive visual identity that sets it apart from traditional watch designs. The current market favours watches with distinctive shapes that lend an architectural dimension to the wrist. The blue leather strap creates a direct visual harmony with the hands and hour markers on the dial.
