The history of this Jaeger-LeCoultre Atmos Classique
The Jaeger-LeCoultre manufacture presents a unique technical creation. Invented in 1928 by the engineer Jean-Léon Reutter, the Atmos is based on the principle of quasi-perpetual motion. Its mechanism operates thanks to a sealed capsule containing ethyl chloride. This gas expands and contracts in response to the slightest temperature fluctuations. A temperature fluctuation of just one degree Celsius is sufficient to provide the mechanism with two days’ power reserve. The Q5101202 model retains the original design of this collection. The Swiss government has made this object its official gift to foreign dignitaries.
Structure and movement of this Atmos Classique
This piece rests on a brushed base housing an integrated spirit level for precise levelling. The gilded brass case measures 225 mm in height, 155 mm in width and 200 mm in depth. It is framed by five panels of clear glass revealing the internal mechanism. The white lacquered dial features embossed Arabic numerals and dagger-shaped hour markers. The matt black sword-shaped hands contrast with the gold-coloured finishes of the mainplate. The movement is powered by the calibre 560. It comprises 207 components and features 15 functional jewels.

Contents supplied and condition
This clock is supplied with its service return box, the official Jaeger-LeCoultre service report and the invoice for the major service carried out in December 2025 by the retailer L’Emeraude in Lausanne. The movement has been disassembled, cleaned and adjusted by the brand’s workshops. The brass case shows slight surface marks consistent with its history. These subtle signs of wear are consistent with its age and do not affect its operation.
