The story behind this Bvlgari Octo Finissimo
Bvlgari launched the Octo Finissimo collection to offer a contemporary take on the ultra-thin watch. The multifaceted geometric design draws its inspiration from the vaults of the Basilica of Maxentius, built in Rome in the 4th century. With reference 103126, the manufacture combines this complex architecture with sandblasted technical ceramic. The engineering challenge lay in machining a hard and brittle material to achieve a thickness of 5.5 mm without risking structural failure. This timepiece meets the expectations of collectors seeking a discreet and sophisticated timepiece.
Case, calibre and strap of this Octo Finissimo
The 40 mm diameter case is entirely carved from sandblasted black ceramic. This matt finish absorbs light and emphasises the sharpness of the octagonal geometry’s edges. The absence of a dial allows the movement to be viewed through the sapphire crystal. The open-worked structure reveals the anthracite-grey brushed bridges, featuring a small seconds sub-dial at 7 o’clock and a power reserve indicator at 9 o’clock. The watch is powered by the hand-wound BVL 128SK calibre. This 2.35 mm-thick movement features 28 jewels and offers a power reserve of 65 hours. The case is complemented by a ceramic strap with wide, flat links, fastened by an integrated folding clasp. It is water-resistant to 30 metres.
