The chromatic boldness of this Bucherer creation
Founded in 1888 in Lucerne, the Bucherer house is historically renowned for its exceptional mastery of coloured gems. This set, a piece of second-hand jewellery comprising a necklace matched with 2 dangling earrings, plays on a particularly strong and controlled visual contrast. At the bottom of each floral motif hangs a Cumingi cultured pearl of generous diameter, totalling three pearls for the set. They are framed by 15 pear-cut and brilliant-cut sapphires weighing a strict 2.46 carats, including 0.69 carats for the main pendant and 1.77 carats for the ears. The deep blue of the sapphires rests on a solid 18-carat white gold structure.
Architecture and jewellery expertise
The generous white gold structure reveals a floral motif with a meticulously openwork back to optimise the continuous passage of light. The sapphires are firmly held in place by a classic multi-claw setting. To accentuate the depth of the central motif, the craftsmen at the Bucherer workshops have cleverly integrated 36 fancy black brilliant-cut diamonds totalling 0.17 carats. These dark gems are mounted on raised claws and specifically covered with dark rhodium plating. This technically demanding choice brings out the blue of the sapphires, creating a clear chromatic break. The earrings benefit from a massive articulated racket system. This complex bespoke modification was carried out in 2015 in the brand's own workshops to guarantee absolute fit and comfort.
