The story of this Audemars Piguet Lady
Audemars Piguet has, since its foundation, cultivated a tradition of excellence in the execution of special commissions. This watch, reference BA.77120.0.002, perfectly illustrates that exclusive savoir-faire. Made to celebrate the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the Banque Cantonale Vaudoise between 1845 and 1995, it reflects the close ties between high watchmaking and major Swiss institutions. At that time, the Le Brassus manufacture stood out for its mastery of extra-thin hand-wound calibres, allowing the creation of pieces of absolute finesse. The engraved case back recalls this rare institutional origin. Offering such a solid gold watch represented the pinnacle of recognition.
Case, calibre and strap of this Audemars Piguet Lady
The 24 mm round case is crafted in 18-carat yellow gold and offers highly delicate proportions. Its full snap-on case back bears commemorative engravings for this banking anniversary. The lacquered white dial provides a clean time display with fine black Roman numerals, swept by blackened baton hands. A flat sapphire crystal protects the front. At the heart of the timepiece beats hand-wound calibre 2080. This mechanical movement contains 20 jewels and benefits from high-precision adjustment in five positions, ensuring excellent chronometric stability as well as a power reserve of around 40 hours. The watch is currently fitted with a new brown calf leather strap, secured by the original Audemars Piguet solid yellow gold pin buckle.
Why this Audemars Piguet watch
Acquiring a vintage Audemars Piguet in solid yellow gold is a path valued by lovers of classicism. This specific model stands out for its intrinsic rarity, linked to an exclusive off-catalogue production. Unlike contemporary collections often oriented towards larger diameters, this piece embodies the very essence of the traditional ladies’ dress watch. It offers the privilege of owning a finely adjusted manufacture movement in a discreet, elegant format. Today’s pre-owned market particularly values such special editions that tell a chapter of Swiss economic and horological history.
Included contents and condition
This March 1995 piece is accompanied by its period authenticity and exclusivity certificate printed on parchment-like paper. It includes its original green presentation case, which shows heavy external wear typical of materials used in that decade. The black leather strap originally fitted to the watch is also provided, although it is heavily degraded over time. The watch is in good overall condition, with wear marks fully consistent with its age and history. Re-polishing of the metal remains possible on prior request, although our experts advise against it in order to preserve the integrity of the case and the watch’s collector value.
