The Aesthetics of Geometry
The 1970s and 1980s marked a turning point in jewellery design, bringing to the fore clean geometric lines and bold volumes. This second-hand ring follows this architectural style. Crafted from 18-carat yellow gold, it features an asymmetrical herringbone structure. Three triangular recesses hold brilliant-cut diamonds, creating a sharp contrast between the smooth metal and the pavé setting.
Architecture and jewellery craftsmanship
The solid, dense setting has been fully polished. The openwork on the inside of the band helps to control the weight of the piece whilst allowing light to circulate beneath the gemstones. The three triangular areas are set with 48 diamonds, totalling an estimated weight of 0.24 carats. The grain setting is carved directly from the solid metal, holding the stones slightly recessed to protect the culets whilst ensuring the surface is smooth to the touch.
Why choose this second-hand ring
Purchasing such a piece of second-hand jewellery provides access to a significant amount of gold. The creation of these asymmetrical chevron patterns requires complex craftsmanship, which is now costly to reproduce to order in contemporary workshops. This piece guarantees a durable structure and a distinctive design.
