A closer look at various dials of the Rolex Submariner ref. 5512 reveals that Rolex has altered the location of the depth indication. Early editions - and this includes all early shiny/golden examples - included meter units first where the dials read "200m = 660ft" for depth indication. Subsequently, Rolex changed this practice by placing feet units first, with dials indicating "660ft = 200m" - a practice that continued until the end of production of reference 5512 in the late 1970s.
The most important thing to remember about this magnificent reference 5512 is that it is the first Submariner to feature crown-protecting shoulders, giving it a whole new modernity. It is also important as a COSC Submariner.
